On April 11, 2013 the PS36 PTA held their annual Chinese Auction Fundraiser at the Grand Oaks in Staten Island. The members of the PTA donated $830 to Michael’s Cause to help further research in order to find a cure for Duchenne. A special thanks to everyone who took a chance on the Disney hopper raffle. With your continued support we will reach our goal to help Michael and all of the other boys who suffer from this disease.

Michael’s Cause held its 2nd annual Wish Upon a Star Dinner Dance at the Hilton Garden Inn, Staten Island. It was truly a night to remember. Over 475 guests attended the event. Special guests of the evening included the Hamad family who lost 3 boys to this disease. Their story was one of inspiration and courage as Mr. Eddie Hamad spoke. He went on to say how important funding is to help research find a cure. Brielle Von Hugel along with the PS 22 Chorus sang “You’ll be in My Heart” and “My Wish”. Dr. Kathryn Wagner, from John Hopkins/Kennedy Krieger spoke about the future of Duchenne and the importance of raising funds for research. Noted Actor Dan Grimaldi from the series “The Sopranos” spoke about the cause. Staten Island Assemblyman Vincent Ignizio and Miss Richmond County Alyssa Depaolis were also in attendance.
Many items were on raffle display. Notable items raffles were $7500 in cash, a cruise, trips, tickets, jewelery and sports memorabilia.

Michael’s Cause also gave a $15,000 check to Dr. Kathryn Wagner to help fund the Hugo W Moser Research Laboratory at Kennedy Kreiger.

The Mullowney family held a fundraiser at Chick-fil-a in November 2012. They raised $295.00!! Awesome!!
The Plainedge High School Orchestra coordinated a Fall Festival Fundraiser and raised a total of $378 for Michaels Cause!
Keith Christensen is a regional business banker for NY Community Bank. Richmond County Savings Bank, which is a division of NY Community bank, is sponsoring Keith to run the NY City Marathon for Michael’s Cause. They donated $100 a mile totaling $2620 (click image for Keith's bio).
Michael’s Cause sponsored the first annual 5k Run and Walk on Sunday September 23, 2012. The day turned out great with 80 runners and over 400 walkers. We are greatly thankful for all of those who were able to attend and all of our sponsors who provided food, drinks, entertainment, face painters and characters. The event was a complete success raising over $18,000. The day began with a proclamation read by a representative from Senator Lanza’s office. The 5k run along the South Beach Boardwalk was great. The walk followed suit. In addition there was a 100 meter kids fun run which saw Michael run hard and fast. Partners in Sound provided entertainment and there was plenty of food for all.

Gabrielle, Gianna, and Anthony Leandro along with Michael, Alyssa, and Christopher Costa ran a car wash and ice sale raising $111 for Michaels Cause.
Gabrielle Leandro, along with the O’Conners ran a lemonade and ice tea sale raising $22.50 for Michaels Cause.
Thank you to Chrissy Catanzaro for hosting a BeautiControl Fundraiser Event at her house on August 24th.....The event raised nearly $200.00 for Michael's Cause!
On July 28 Enchanted Events held a carnival in Staten Island for Michael's Cause. Hundreds came to the event which consisted of rides, games, face painting, and family fun. It raised $1400 for Michael's Cause. A special thanks goes out to Jamie Daragjati and Lauren Sparacio for planning the event. Once again Michael's Cause is grateful for the support. Together we will find a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

This Yoga fund raising event took place on April 27, 2012 at the “You Can Do It” Yoga center. The event raised $680 for Michael’s Cause. A special thanks to Susan Orrico-Duffy who organized the event.

P.S. 36 PTA in April 2012 raised $520 for Michael’s Cause during a fund raising event. All proceeds from the Disney Park Hopper pass were given.
Nicholas and Jenna Como made duct tape wallets and sold them raising $66 for Michael’s Cause.
The evening was a great success thanks to the overwhelming support we received from family, friends, work, school, and the community. Special thanks to the Michael's Cause Committee who worked very hard to insure that the evening ran smoothly. We completely sold out with 500 guests in attendance. The event raised about $50,000 for Michael's Cause and an additional $20,000 in monetary donations. Among the larger contributors were 1st Choice Industries (our main sponsor), Titanium Construction Services, The Dr. Theodore A. Atlas Foundation, Raineri Jewelers, and the NYPD Sergeant's Benevolent Association . All floral arrangements were provided by Eltingville Florist. All funds raised by Michael's Cause will be directed to research to help for better treatments and a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The Capolongo family is extremely grateful and appreciative for all of the support we received from everyone.

Thank you to IS 75 for holding a bake sale fundraiser for Michael's Cause. Between baked goods and bracelet sales, they were able to raise over $400!
